이백순 대사, 1차 세계대전 종전 100주년 기념식 Remembrance Day 추모행사 참석
제1차 세계대전 종전 추모일 100주년을 맞이하여 캔버라에서는 6만 2천 명의 전몰장병을 추모하는 행사가 연달아 개최되었고 이백순 대사(주호주대사관)는 이 3개 행사에 모두 참석하였다.
2018년 11월 9일(금) Scott Ryan 상원의장과 Tony Smith 하원의장이 공동 주최한 종전 100주년 기념행사에서는 여성자원봉사자들이 손수 손뜨개질하여 만들어진 양귀비꽃 5만 송이로 국회의사당 앞이 장식되었다.
2018월 11월 10일(토) 국회의사당 그레이트홀에서 개최된 갈라디너에는 500여 명이 참석한 가운데 전몰장병을 위한 영상물 상영, 추모 시 낭독, 공연 등 다양한 추모 프로그램이 진행되었다.
2018년 11월 11일(일) 호주 전쟁기념관 앞 추모광장에서 열린 추모행사에서는 국가를 위해 헌신한 참전 군인들과 전사자의 희생을 기리는 다채로운 행사가 진행되었다. 이날 행사에는 Scott Morrison 호주 총리 등 주요 인사, 현역 및 예비역 군인, 참전용사, 외교단, 시민 등 각계에서 참석하였고, 이백순 대사는 대한민국을 대표하여 헌화하였다.
Remembrance Day 2018 – 100th anniversary of the end of World War I
On Australia’s Remembrance Day (Sunday, 11 November 2018) which marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Ambassador LEE Baeksoon participated in all three events that commemorate and honour 62,000 fallen soldiers.
On Friday, 9 November 2018, at the official opening of the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI hosted by the Hon Tony Smith MP, speaker of the House of Representatives and Senator the Hon Scott Ryan, president of the Senate, a number of volunteers have prepared fifty-thousand hand-made poppies and decorated the forecourt of Parliament House.
On Saturday, 10 November 2018, Ambassador Lee participated in the Gala dinner of Remembrance Day 2018. The dinner was composed of many programmes including a video-clip screening, poetry recital and performances for the fallen soldiers.
On Sunday, 11 November 2018, Ambassador Lee took part in at Remembrance Day National Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial. Many officials including Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Australian soldiers, war veterans, diplomatic corps and Australian citizens participated in the ceremony, and Ambassador Lee laid a wreath representing the Republic of Korea.
