Mrs Catherine Anne Cunningham (Trieschmann, 1886. 2. 1-1976. 11.18)
한국명: 권임함 목사 부인, Chinju 1918-1941
Catherine Trieschmann was a missionary of the Methodist Episcopal Church of the USA, teaching English in the Hiroshima Girls School. It is said that she and Frank Cunningham first met while climbing Mount Fuji. They were later married in Hiroshima on 16 November 1917.
Mrs Cunningham took an active part in the life of the Mission in Chinju. At times, she was in charge of a branch kindergarten, at other times, served as station secretary, and at the same time cared for the family, supervising her children’’s school lessons, and looking after guests while husband, Frank, for many years worked in Kuchang or itinerated through the churches in the Chinju region.
Mrs Cunningham was always a gracious and hospitable hostess, and maintained a welcoming open door in Chinju. Her knowledge of Japanese was very useful in relating to the local Japanese. Catherine Cunningham retained her US citizenship, but died in Melbourne on 18 November 1976.
