LEST KOREA FORGET ‘Australians in the Korean War 1950-53’

The Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) Australia and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with the Anzac Memorial presents a number of special programs in June 2020 to recognise and remember ‘Australians in the Korean War 1950–53’ on the occasion of this year’s 70th anniversary of the Korean War.
1. ‘LEST KOREA FORGET’ SYDNEY LIGHT RAIL CAMPAIGN
22 June – 26 July 2020

Featuring eight Australian veterans who served in the Korean War, this light rail campaign is to re-discover and introduce relatively lesser-known Australian veterans.
2. ‘AUSTRALIANS IN THE KOREAN WAR 1950-53’ ONLINE EXHIBITION
22 June until the end of 2020

This online exhibition is designed to remember the ‘forgotten faces’ of Australian Korean War veterans and the stories of their beautiful comradeship and noble spirit of sacrifice.
3. SPECIAL ONLINE TALK WITH BRADLEY MENARA AND REAR ADMIRAL IAN CRAWFORD
30 June 2020

In order to rediscover the meaning of the Korean War as a ‘War to Remember Together’ and to share the hidden stories of Australian veterans, historian / curator of the Anzac Memorial, Bradley Manera and Korean War veteran Rear Admiral Ian Crawford will hold a special online talk on the Korean War.
4. ‘PASSAGE TO PUSAN’ DOCUMENTARY ONLINE SCREENING
23 June – 30 June 2020

Produced by the KCC in 2017, the Passage to Pusan Documentary that follows author Louise Evans retracing the footsteps of her grandmother Thelma’s epic passage to South Korea to find the grave of her son Vince who died in the Korean War will be screened online for a limited time.
