호주 · 뉴질랜드 유럽 원정 평가전 취소, 유럽 코로나 재확산으로
대한축구협회도 유럽 상황 주시
호주축구협회 (FFA)는 10월 22일(현지시간) 홈페이지를 통해 “코로나19와 관련한 위험이 지속하고 악화하고 있어 오는 11월 유럽에서 국가대표팀을 소집하려던 계획을 더는 진행하지 않는다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “유감스럽게도 유럽 전역에서 코로나19 상황이 이어지고 더 나빠지고 있어 유럽과 아시아에서 뛰는 선수들을 소집하기가 복잡하고 위험해졌다 … 의료 전문가의 조언을 따라 유럽에서의 대표팀 활동 계획을 더는 추진하지 않기로 했다”고 밝혔다.
호주는 영국 런던에서 잉글랜드, 미국과 차례로 평가전을 치를 예정이었다. 앞서 뉴질랜드축구협회도 지난주 자국 정부의 해외여행 자제령에 따라 런던 원정 계획을 취소했다.
한편 대한축구협회도 유럽 상황을 면밀히 살피고 있다. 파울루 벤투 감독이 이끄는 한국 대표팀은 다음 달 오스트리아에서 멕시코(11월 15일), 카타르(11월 17일)와 친선경기를 치를 예정이다.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today announced that it will not be proceeding with plans to assemble national team squads in Europe in November 2020 due to the ongoing and evolving risks associated with COVID-19.
Over past months, FFA has undertaken scenario planning for numerous match and/or training camp options in Europe for both the Socceroos and Westfield Matildas to enable the players, together with their coaches and support staff, to assemble in the final FIFA window of 2020.
Regrettably, the ongoing and worsening COVID-19 landscape across Europe has provided complexities and risks to assemble players from across Europe and Asia and, following the latest advice from medical professionals, FFA will not be proceeding with activities in Europe at this time.

As of late last week, plans for the Socceroos to play two international friendly matches in London next month were well advanced, and were close to being announced. The proposed fixtures were in line with FFA’s ambition, as outlined in the XI Principles for the future of Australian football, to play top global opponents to maximise player exposure and capture the hearts and minds of fans.
FFA is committed to ensuring Australia’s national teams at all levels return to action as soon as possible, however ensuring the health and wellbeing of players and staff remains FFA’s foremost priority.
