2021년 나이독 주간 (NAIDOC WEEK) 7월 4 ~ 11일, 주제는 ‘힐 컨트리’
“착취, 모독, 파괴로부터 우리의 땅과 물, 문화 유산 보호” 촉구
NAIDOC Week 2021 (4 ~ 11 Jul), ‘Heal Country!’
2021년 나이독 주간 (NAIDOC Week 2021)이 7월 4일부터 11일까지 한 주간 ‘힐 컨트리 : Heal Country!’란 주제로 전국에서 열린다. NAIDOC은 National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee의 약칭이다.
올해는 ‘힐 컨트리 : Heal Country!’란 주제대로 “착취, 모독, 파괴로부터 우리의 땅, 물, 문화 유산을 보호할 것을 촉구”한다. 장소 그 이상의 의미를 내재한 이 나라 자연은 영적, 육체적, 정서적, 사회적, 문화적으로 모든 측면에서 우리의 삶을 유지하게 한다.
NAIDOC 2021은 호주의 국가 유산의 일부로 원주민의 문화 유산과 지식 및 전통을 이해하며 수용하고, 원주민과 토레스 해협 섬 주민들의 문화와 가치를 동등하게 존중하도록 초대한다.
주최측은 “수 세대 동안 우리는 문화와 유산의 모든 측면을 인식, 보호 및 유지하기위한 강력한 조치를 요구해 왔다. 우리는 여전히 강력한 보호 장치를 기다리고 있다. 올해의 주제는 또한 실질적인 제도적, 구조적, 협력적 개혁을 추구한다. ‘힐링 컨트리’는 우리 국민의 삶에 영향을 미치는 수많은 불의를 마침내 해결하는 것을 의미한다.”며 의미를 밝혔다.
NAIDOC Week는 호주 원주민과 토레스 해협 섬 주민들의 역사, 문화 및 업적을 기념하기 위해 매년 7월마다 ‘NAIDOC 주간’으로 열렸으나 2020년에는 코로나19로 안전을 고려해 11월에 열리기도 했다.
매년 시상식은 각 영역별(Lifetime Achievement Award, Person of the Year, Female Elder of the Year, Male Elder of the Year, Caring for Country Award, Youth of the Year, Artist of the Year, Scholar of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, Sports person of the Year)로 10명에게 특별한 상이 수여된다.
NAIDOC Week에는 원주민 공동체뿐만 아니라 정부기관, 지역사회단체, 지역협의회, 직장, 학교 및 스포츠 단체 등의 수가 계속 증가하고 있다. NAIDOC Week에 대한 자세한 정보는 www.naidoc.org.au에서 확인할 수 있다.
