여성 최초의 원더우먼 작가: 1941년 원더우먼 캐릭터가 탄생한 이후 40 넘게 남성 작가들만 그려오던 관행을 깨고, 1986년 여성 최초로 원더우먼 단독 이슈의 작화를 맡았다. 그녀는 원더우먼을 지나치게 나약하거나 성적으로 대상화하지 않고, 강인하고 독립적인 여성으로 묘사하여 큰 호평을 받았다.

최초의 전원 여성 참여 만화 제작: 1970년, 오직 여성 작가들의 참여로만 구성된 역사상 최초의 만화책인 《It Ain’t Me, Babe》를 공동 제작했다. 이 성공을 바탕으로 20년간 이어진 전설적인 여성 만화가 모음집 《Wimmen’s Comix》 단체를 공동 설립했다.

만화계에 투신하기 전에는 뉴욕 이스트 빌리지에서 ‘브로콜리 (Broccoli)’라는 패션 부티크를 운영하기도 했다. 당대 전설적인 뮤지션인 조니 미첼 (Joni Mitchell), 도노반 (Donovan), 데이비드 크로스비 (David Crosby) 등의 무대 의상을 직접 제작했으며, 조니 미첼의 명곡 《Ladies of the Canyon》에 등장하는 세 명의 여성 중 한 명의 실제 모델이기도 하다.
