서지 랭 (Serge Lang) 은 프랑스계 미국인 수학자로, 고등학교 수준의 수학부터 대학원 레벨 정도의 수학까지 모두 다룬 저서들로 유명하다.

10대의 나이에 미국의 캘리포니아주로 이주했다.

1946년에 캘리포니아 공과대학교를 졸업하고, 1951년에는 프린스턴 대학교에서 박사 학위를 받았다.

시카고 대학교와 컬럼비아 대학교에서 재직하기도 하였고, 예일 대학교의 명예 교수를 지내기도 했다.

서지 랭 (Serge Lang)은 1927년 5월 19일, 프랑스의 파리에서 태어났다.

그는 어렸을 때 프랑스에서 미국으로 이민을 와서 캘리포니아에 정착하였다.

이후 캘리포니아 공과대학교에 진학하여 1946년에 물리학 학사 학위를 받은 뒤, 프린스턴 대학교의 에밀 아르틴(Emil Artin) 교수 밑에서 대수적 폐체 관련 논문으로 1951년 수학박사 학위를 받았다.

그 이후에는 시카고 대학교, 컬럼비아 대학교, 예일 대학교 교수직을 역임하였다.

베트남 전쟁 반대 등 사회운동도 했다.

만년에는 HIV/에이즈 부정론을 믿으며 예일 대학교의 HIV 바이러스 연구 반대 운동을 했다.
