NAIDOC Week 2026 (5 ~ 12 Jul), ’50 Years of Deadly’
2026년 나이독 주간 (NAIDOC Week 2026)이 7월 5일부터 12일까지 한 주간 ’50 Years of Deadly’ (50년간 이어진 눈부신 성취와 문화)이란 주제로 전국에서 열린다.
NAIDOC은 National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee의 약칭으로, 나이독 주간에는 호주 원주민들의 원주민 문화 보호와 전수를 위한 노력을 존중하는 기회로 삼았다.
올해는 ’50 Years of Deadly’ (50년간 이어진 눈부신 성취와 문화)란 주제대로 50주년을 맞아 지난 50년간 호주 원주민 (Aboriginal)과 토레스 해협 제도민 (Torres Strait Islander)의 문화, 역사, 목소리를 기념하는 뜻깊은 해다.
장소 그 이상의 의미를 내재한 이 나라 자연은 영적, 육체적, 정서적, 사회적, 문화적으로 모든 측면에서 우리의 삶을 유지하게 한다.
NAIDOC 2026은 호주의 국가 유산의 일부로 원주민의 문화 유산과 지식 및 전통을 이해하며 수용하고, 원주민과 토레스 해협 섬 주민들의 문화와 가치를 동등하게 존중하도록 촉구한다.
매년 시상식은 각 영역별 (Lifetime Achievement Award, Person of the Year, Female Elder of the Year, Male Elder of the Year, Caring for Country Award, Youth of the Year, Artist of the Year, Scholar of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, Sports person of the Year)로 10명에게 특별한 상이 수여된다.
NAIDOC Week에는 원주민 공동체뿐만 아니라 정부기관, 지역사회단체, 지역협의회, 직장, 학교 및 스포츠 단체 등의 수가 계속 증가하고 있다.
