강정식 대사, 12월 8일부터 11일까지 NSW주 공식방문
시드니 공식방문해 Beazley 총독, Bathurst 대법원장, O’Dea 하원의장, McKay 야당 대표, Ajaka 상원의장 등 주정부 인사들 예방

강정식 대사 (주호주대사관)는 NSW (New South Wales) 주 정부 초청으로 12월 8일부터 11일까지 시드니를 공식 방문하여, Margaret Beazley 총독, Tom Bathurst 대법원장, Jonathan O’Dea 하원의장, Jody McKay 야당 대표, John Ajaka 상원의장 등 주 정부 인사들을 예방하였다.
또한, David Elliott 경찰 담당 장관, Joseph La Posta 다문화청장, Jess Scully 시드니 시 부시장을 면담하고, Victor Dominello 주 고객서비스 장관 주최 오찬에 참석하였습니다.
강정식 대사는 NSW 주 정부 측과의 면담에서, NSW 주에 거주하는 한인들의 안전 문제에 대한 주 정부 측의 관심과 지원을 당부하고, 또한, 한인들이 호주 사회에 성공적으로 정착할 있도록 계속하여 지원해 줄 것을 요청하였다.
아울러, NSW 주에 대한 우리 기업들의 투자 프로젝트가 원활히 진행되어, NSW 주와 한국 간 경제협력이 보다 활성화될 수 있도록 지원해 줄 것을 요청하였다.
강 대사는 이번 방문 계기에, 내년도 한-호 수교 60주년 기념 행사가 시드니를 비롯한 호주 전역에서 개최 추진된다고 설명하고, NSW 주 정부의 관심과 지원을 당부하였다.
강 대사는 공식방문 계기, 12월 10일 시드니에 주재하는 우리 금융기관 대표들과 간담회를 가지고, 호주 금융시장 현황에 대한 정보를 공유하고, 우리 진출 기업 지원 방안에 대해 의견을 나누었다.
Official Visit to New South Wales (8-11 December)
Invited by the NSW government, Ambassador Jeong-sik Kang paid an official visit to NSW from Tuesday, 8 December to Friday, 11 December. During his visit, Ambassador Kang had meetings with Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW, the Honourable Tom Bathurst, Chief Justice of NSW, the Hon. Jonathan O’Dea, Speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly, Ms Jodi McKay, Leader of the Opposition and the Hon. John Ajaka, President of the NSW Legislative Council. Ambassador Kang also had meetings with the Hon David Elliott, Minister for Police and Emergency Services of NSW, Mr Joseph La Posta, CEO of Multicultural NSW and Jess Scully, Deputy Lord Mayor of Sydney, and attended a luncheon hosted by the Hon Victor Dominello MP, Minister for Customer Service NSW.
At the meetings with the NSW government officials, Ambassador Kang requested continued support of the NSW government for the safety of Korean residents in NSW and their successful settlement in Australian society. Ambassador Kang also encouraged the NSW government to continue its support for stronger Korea-NSW economic cooperation, allowing smooth investment activities of Korean companies in NSW.
On the occasion of his official visit to NSW, Ambassador Kang requested NSW government’s interest and support for next year’s events commemorating the 60th anniversary of Korea-Australia bilateral diplomatic relations that will take place in Sydney and around Australia.
During his visit to NSW, Ambassador Kang also had a meeting with CEOs of the Korean financial institutions in Sydney, exchanged information on Australia’s financial market status and discussed measures to enhance support for Korean companies in NSW.
