우리가 하나님을 만나고 경험하게 되는 여러 가지 방법이 있다. 다른 성도들의 간증을 통해서, 또는 예배나 찬양과 기도를 통해서 우리는 우리를 향하신 하나님의 사랑을 알게 된다. 그러나, 그 중에 성경읽기는 우리 삶 가운데 하나님을 만나게 되는 가장 강력한 방법이 될 수 있다. There are many ways for us to meet and experience God. Through stories of other Christians, worships, songs, or prayers, we get to know God and his love toward us. Above all, however, reading the Bible can be one of the most powerful ways to have encounter with God in our lives.
어떤 성경구절 하나를 가지고 사업의 위기를 견디어 낸 한 기독교인 사업가에 관해 들은 적이 있다. 그것은 로마서 8장에 있는 ‘하나님을 사랑하는 자들에게는 모든 것이 협력하여 선을 이루니라’는 말씀이다. 즉, 하나님을 사랑하기 위해서 최선을 다하다 보니까 자신의 쓰러져가는 사업을 구 할 수 있었다는 것이다. 그렇다. 성경에 나오는 모든 이야기들에는 한가지 공통점이 있다. “하나님은 우리에게 경험되어지기를 원하신다.” I’ve heard about a businessman who was able to hang in there during the toughest time of his business with one particular verse, which was from Romans chapter 8 ‘all things work together for good to them that love the Lord.’ Trying to love the Lord with all his heart has actually saved his dying business. Yes, the stories in the Bible point out one thing in common: ‘God wants to be experienced by us.’
할머니에게 매우 특별한 선물을 드리고 싶어했던 여자아이가 하나 있었다. 아이는 예쁜 성경책을 하나 사서, 거기에 특별한 글을 써넣기를 원했다. 아이는 아빠의 책들을 뒤적거렸고 거기의 아빠가 가장 좋아하는 책에서 마음에 드는 글귀를 하나 발견했다. 그리고 그 여자아이는 그것을 새로 산 성경책에 베껴 적었다. 할머니는 성경책을 받아 들고 첫 장을 펼쳤고 거기에는 다음과 같이 적혀있었다. “이 책의 저자가 할머니에게 이 책을 바칩니다.” There was once a little girl who wanted to give her grandmother a very special gift. She bought a beautiful Bible, but decided that she needed to write something special in it. She looked through some of her father’s books, and in one of his favorite books she found a writing she liked. And she copied that into the new Bible. When the grandmother opened the Bible, she opened the front cover and there read, “To Granny, with the compliments of the Author.”
그렇다. 모든 성경책의 저자는 예수님이라 할 수 있다. 성경은 하나님이 우리를 포함한 모든 인류에게 주시는 가장 소중한 선물인 것이다. 그것은 예수님은 길이요 진리요 생명이시기 때문이다! Yes. We could say Jesus is the real author of the Bible. The Bible is the most precious gift from God to all humanity, including us. It is because Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life!
