3·1독립운동 100주년 기념사
안녕하세요?
3·1절 100주년 기념행사를 시드니에서 개최하게 된 점 진심으로 축하드립니다.
NSW 보훈부 장관으로서 저는 한국의 광복에 참여하고 투쟁한 독립운동가와 독립정신을 계승 유지하고자 하는 한국 후손들에게 깊은 경의를 보냅니다.
올해는 3·1운동 100주년을 맞는 해로 전 세계 한인사회에 매우 중요하고 의미있는 한 해입니다.
무엇보다 가장 중요한 점은 이러한 기념행사를 통해 미래 세대는 독립운동가들이 바친 희생을 기억하고 호주에 사는 젊은 한국인으로서 자긍심을 가질 수 있다는 점입니다.
또한 매년 3·1절에 독립운동가들의 희생을 잊지않겠다고 다짐함으로써 그들이 영원히 우리와 함께 있음을 재확인할 수 있습니다.
3·1절 기념행사 개최를 다시 한번 축하드리며 한인사회 동포 여러분의 행복을 기원합니다.

“As the NSW Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, I extend my deepest gratitude to the veterans who were involved in and fought for the Liberation of Korea and their descendants who continue to raise awareness of the Korean Independence’s strength of mind.
This year marks the centenary of the March 1st Independence Movement and is a significant milestone to the Korean community across the world.
Most importantly, it nurtures a sense of pride for young Australian Koreans in remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice that veterans committed for future generations at the ultimate deprivation of their longevity.
By commemorating our vow to remember each year, we reaffirm that the ultimate sacrifice of veterans will never be forgotten and that they are forever with us.
