맥스 루케이도 (Max Lucado)는 1955년 1월 11일, 미국 텍사수주 San Angelo에서 출생했다.

그는 애블린 기독교대학에서 매스커뮤니케이션을 공부하고, 성경신학을 전공하여 석사학위를 받았다.

1977년에 아빌렌 기독 대학교를 졸업 (대학과 대학원에서 학사와 석사, 동문회상 2회 수상), 1988년 이후로 샌 안토니오의 오크 힐 그리스도의 교회에서 사역하고 있다.

1993년에 가장 존경받는 기독교인 저술가로 뽑힌 7인 가운데 한명이다.

대한민국에는 100여권이 넘는 책이 번역되어 있다.
